Expert Hotel Recommendations – Places to Stay in Paris
Visiting Paris but not sure where you should stay? We’ve asked Doni Belau of Girls' Guide to Paris if she could provide us with her Parisian hotel recommendations. Remember that you can find a range of excellent accommodation options by viewing our Paris hotels, so you can find the ideal place to stay at the perfect price.
What budget accommodation or 1-star hotel would you recommend?
Finding a 1-star hotel in central Paris that is anything but very basic is quite difficult. That's why I'd recommend Hotel St. Andre des Arts in the 6th arrondissement. You can normally find a fairly charming room for under $100 (£70) with old beamed ceilings, timbered or limestone walls, and free Wi-Fi.
What 2-star hotel would you recommend and why?
Hotel Jeanne D'Arc on one of the most darling streets in Le Marais has long been a Girls' Guide favourite. Its decor is charming and authentic, and its prices can't be beaten. Speaking a little French is a plus when staying here.
You can often score a price under 100 euros (£80) a night for a room, and their family room that sleeps 4 can be a real bargain.
What 3-star hotel would you recommend and why?
Hotel des Grandes Hommes overlooking the Pantheon in the 5th arrondissement is a real French classic. With a cosy jewel-box-like decor that is 100% up to snuff, the views here are worth drooling over. You'll feel right at home in this friendly 3-star, family-owned hotel where you can often find rates under 200 euros (£155).
What would you recommend for a 4-star hotel in Paris?
My absolute favourite hotel in Paris is the Hotel Recamier. It’s the only hotel that overlooks the Church of Saint-Sulpice in Saint-Germain and is decorated in high style but closer in feel to a home than a hotel.
The breakfast and tea room is small but delectably adorable, and the stairwells are decorated each with a different statue of Madame Récamier by local artists and designers.
Finally, your 5-star hotel recommendation?
For complete luxury, step into the Hotel De Vendome on the Place Vendome, which is a bargain for a 5-star hotel, compared with the crazy prices of other spots nearby. Or score bragging rights with your friends by checking into the brand new Hotel les Bains brought to you by the family who owns the Les Bains nightclub. This is seriously stylish luxury.
