Expert Hotel Recommendations – New York

What budget accommodation or 1-star hotel would you recommend?
Harlem Bed and Breakfast – If you are looking for a place to rest your head, this is not a bad spot. It provides free breakfast. There are lots of restaurants and stores around there, especially on 125th Street – Harlem has changed a lot over the years.
It is also close to the 116th Street train stop. You can take the express train into Midtown West. It’s like 4 or 5 stops to get to Times Square.
What 2-star hotel would you recommend and why?
The Pod Hotel 51 – It is in a great location in Midtown East. Rooms are small but clean. It’s near public transit, so you have tons of shopping, bars, and restaurants nearby.
If you have a low budget, it is easy to get from there to the airport by train. You will need to catch the E train to Sutphin Boulevard to catch the air train, which is about 45 minutes’ ride.
How about your 3-star hotel recommendation?
Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th Street. Good and clean hotel. It is in a prime location for the Empire State Building, Times Square, shopping (the iconic Macys 34th street Department Store), restaurants, bars and lounges, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, and more. It also has easy access to almost every train line at 34th Street.
What would you recommend for a 4-star hotel in New York?
Paper Factory Hotel in Long Island City, NY – The hotel is located in front of the subway station. It is exactly two stops from NYC - Midtown East.
If you walk two blocks, you have a movie theater, Subway, Panera Bread, Starbucks, Applebee’s, Pizzeria Uno. You’ll also find many local restaurants – Spanish, Greek, Thai, and more. You also have a supermarket and wine store, and the staff are nice. It is super convenient!
Last but not least, your 5-star hotel recommendation?
The Peninsula New York Hotel – It is situated at a prime location: Fifth Avenue and 55th Street. It is by Central Park, the Fifth Avenue Apple Store, Rockefeller Center and much more.
It is known for their outstanding service and attention to detail. There are lots of eateries, bars and stores around it, and it’s close to lots of train lines and buses. The hotel is beautiful and stylish, and they also have great food.
